Chapel Barn Cottage - The Accommodation

The accommodation at Chapel Barn is arranged unconventionally, reflecting the structure of the original interior. The living room is upstairs, as is the double bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The bedroom opens onto a small gallery overlooking the kitchen.

A short flight of stairs leads from the living room to a mezzanine space which looks out onto the patio and garden through French windows. The stairs continue down to the kitchen which has an adjoining utility room.

On the ground floor the small porch entrance, with plenty of space for storing outdoor clothing and footwear, opens onto a spacious entrance area. This leads off to the second bedroom, shower room and kitchen.

The first floor split level living area, with a high barn ceiling and original A-frame timbers, has village views from the front. It looks out over the Wesleyan chapel, dated 1833, from which Chapel Barn takes its name, and, as described, opens on to the patio and garden at the rear. A wood burning stove (logs included) offers extra cosiness when needed. There is a Bose radio/CD player and DVD player in addition to the colour TV.

The central feature of the high-ceilinged kitchen/dining room is the warm and welcoming oil fired Rayburn. This is both the easy-to-manage cooker, and provides central heating and hot water. We store the crockery and cutlery in a large Edwardian sideboard. For visitors' convenience we have installed a payphone - there is little or no mobile phone signal in the house or the village. There is an excellent range of kitchen equipment.

In the adjoining utility room you will find the dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge and small electric cooker. There is also a walk-in store room with a small freezer and a microwave. Both the bedrooms have high quality Vi-spring beds and mattresses: several visitors have commented on how comfortable they are. The ground floor bedroom has twin beds: these can be easily joined together for visitors as a super king size bed if required. Both the bathroom and the shower room have powerful mains pressure showers.

Included in the rental price are all linen and towels; all fuel including logs for the stove; all electricity; cot and high chair if required.
